Dental Crowns Near You
What Are Dental Crowns?
Dental crowns are shaped caps used to cover and protect damaged teeth. A crown essentially covers the whole tooth, from the gum line to the biting surface. You may also find them referred to as tooth or dental caps.
Crowns can be made out of different materials porcelain, ceramic or metal. Each one is custoM made to fit your tooth. The crown will then be contoured and polished so that it fits naturally with the rest of your smile. Besides protecting teeth, crowns can also be placed on dental implants or used to support dental bridges.
Types of Crowns We Offer
Normally, the majority of the adult population are good candidates for teeth whitening, especially those who have healthy teeth and gums. Nevertheless, if a person has cavities, gum disease, or extremely sensitive teeth, then the treatment of these conditions should precede the whitening effort. Our dentist near you at AZ Implant & Denture Center, during a check-up, carefully assesses your mouth to decide how effective and safe the whitening will be for you.

The Crown Treatment Process
The first step is to numb your tooth so that you do not feel any discomfort. Once you are numb, we will reshape the tooth to accommodate the crown. Then we will take an impression of your tooth, so the dental crowns in Sun City West, AZ, fit perfectly.
During your visit, a temporary crown will be placed on your tooth to protect it while we create your permanent crown. We will remove the temporary crown and place your new permanent crown, ensuring a proper fit and the look and feel of comfort when you bite. Once all is in order, we will bond the crown in place permanently.
After your crown is placed, you may have some sensitivity with that tooth for a few days. This is completely normal and to be expected. We will provide you with aftercare instructions to ensure your crown lasts as long as possible. Most people feel back to normal, and their crowns feel normal after being in place for about a week.
Taking Care of Your Crown
Be sure to keep your crown clean by brushing and flossing your teeth every day, similar to your natural teeth. Avoid chewing hard things, such as ice, or using your teeth to open a package. Make sure to visit a dentist in Sun City West, AZ, for your regular dental check-ups so we can monitor the health of the crown.
